WASHINGTON, D.C. — Oct. 22, 2024— Today, Tiempo Company, a leading Hispanic-owned media group, announced the launch of Espacio, a creative communications hub designed to transform how brands interact with communities by creating authentic cultural connections.
Espacio was conceived by a group of childhood friends —Marcos Marin, Winston Peraza, Manuel Oliver, and Javier Marin—who reconnected after years of individual success in media, design, activism, and entrepreneurship. Together, they saw an opportunity to create a place that puts their diverse experiences into practice, crafting a space where creativity meets impact and where culture is treated as a living, evolving force.
“We found a gap between transaction-driven marketing and PR, where partners with meaningful stories aren’t fully supported by either approach. Espacio grew out of Tiempo Company’s collaboration with these partners, evolving into its own entity, by using experience and data to create activations that put Latinos at the core,” said Marcos Marin, CEO of Tiempo Company and Partner at Espacio.
Unlike traditional agencies, Espacio’s approach is grounded in the belief that culture is in motion; it’s shaped and reshaped by those who live it. Espacio is both witness and creator, positioning itself not just as an observer but as an instigator, creating work that both resonates with and influences cultural movements.
“Espacio represents a shift in how we think about cultural engagement,” expressed Winston Peraza, Chief Creative Officer and Partner at Espacio. “It’s not just about communicating to an audience; it’s about understanding the rhythm of the community and being a part of it. We’re bringing brands to where culture happens-on the streets, in real conversations, and at the heart of everyday life.”
Espacio’s recent campaigns, alongside its sister media company Tiempo Latino, “Tierra Mía,” in partnership with Climate Power En Acción, and “Medicinas Vitales No Lujos” (“Medications don’t work if you can’t afford them”) with the nonprofit organization Patients for Affordable Drugs-exemplify this ethos. By immersing itself in the real experiences of those facing these challenges, Espacio delivers meaningful, culturally resonant messaging that any family can relate to.
The foundation of Espacio’s work stands on three core values: Familia, Calle, and Talento. Familia represents the commitment to building relationships based on trust, loyalty, and mutual respect. Calle reflects the resourcefulness and street-smart approach that connects brands to the realities of their audiences’ lives. And Talento drives the creativity and innovation that fuel Espacio’s mission to create culturally resonant work that leaves a lasting impact.
“We look for brands with purpose, who want to make cultura, connect and drive change. Espacio goes beyond selling products and services, helps brands, organizations, agencies and our community unleash their economic, cultural and civic power through culturally sensitive content,” said Manuel Oliver, Partner at Espacio and Campaign US’ CMO 50 2024.
Espacio’s founders bring a diverse wealth of experience from various corners of creative and business worlds. Marcos Marin has led major consultancy and agency teams, including Accenture Song. Winston Peraza has a proven track record of founding successful agencies and building large brand ecosystems, with clients such as ESPN, BP, and Deloitte. Manuel Oliver is celebrated for his award-winning activism and impact-driven work as the CMO and co-founder of Change the Ref. Javier Marin combines his entrepreneurial spirit with a deep understanding of the media’s role in effectively reaching diverse audiences as the owner of Tiempo Company.
As a creative hub, Espacio is positioned to work with any brand or organization looking to create meaningful cultural connections, regardless of the audience’s background. By blending strategic insights with culturally relevant narratives, Espacio aims to deliver work that transcends traditional boundaries and resonates on a broader scale.
