Recognition highlights the organization’s commitment to serving Maryland’s Hispanic community through trusted journalism and community engagement

BALTIMORE, Md. — August 10, 2026 — El Tiempo Latino, part of Tiempo Company, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MDHCC) Leadership Award in the Media category. The award was presented during the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 40th Anniversary Gala & Awards Celebration, held at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel.

The MDHCC Leadership Awards recognize organizations and individuals whose leadership, innovation, and service have made a lasting impact on Maryland’s Hispanic business community.

Deputy Publisher Rafael Ulloa and Zulema Tijero, Vice President of Advertising for El Tiempo Latino, accepted the award on behalf of Tiempo Company during the gala. The award was presented by Marco Avila, President of the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

For more than three decades, El Tiempo Latino has served Hispanic communities with bilingual reporting, community-focused journalism, and coverage of the issues that matter most to Latino residents across the Washington metropolitan region, including Maryland.

The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 40th anniversary during the gala, recognizing leaders and organizations that have contributed to the growth and success of Hispanic businesses throughout Maryland.
